This is to raise the point that certain religious institutions have encouraged two dangerous habits in their adherents and to make clear that the ultimate failure and disintegration of these institutions is caused directly by the consequences of this practice. Deference to an individual who is worthy of it exclusively by virtue of their title has opened the way for unbelievable abuses of authority. Hand in hand with this concept goes the inherently immoral and unbiblical concept of forgiveness without a basis for forgiveness, apparently this practice is encouraged to "heal" the victim and elevate them above their abuser. Why would any institution encourage these two complementary practices in their adherents? The answer is that this will make them easier to exploit.
